How to make a birthday video with photos
Three ways that actually work: a free slideshow app (fine but generic), an AI cartoon video with real faces (fastest wow-per-minute), or a recorded video message delivered as a tap-to-open card (most personal). Below: what each costs, how long it takes, and who it's for.
The slideshow route (free, 30–60 min)
iPhone Memories or Google Photos can auto-build a photo slideshow with music. Free and decent — but it looks like what it is: a slideshow. Sharing means sending a big video file that compresses badly in chat apps.
Cost: Free · Effort: Medium
The AI cartoon route (minutes, faces stay real)
Our Creative Card puts actual faces — the birthday star plus up to 4 friends — into a 10-second 2D cartoon party video. Upload front-facing photos, add names and one shared blessing, and it composes itself. Delivered by link, QR or NFC tap.
Cost: $6.9 (free during open test) · Effort: Low
Try this way →The video message route (most personal)
Skip the montage entirely: record yourself talking to them for 60–90 seconds, add up to 3 photos as context, and deliver it as a card they open with a tap. Two decades of birthdays later, nobody replays a slideshow — they replay your voice.
Cost: $7.9 (free during open test) · Effort: Low
Try this way →Tips that matter regardless of route
- · Photos: front-facing, well-lit, one face per photo. Group shots crop badly everywhere.
- · Length: 30–90 seconds beats 5 minutes. Every time.
- · Delivery: a link they tap beats a 200MB file in a chat app — no compression, no "download failed".
- · Group effort: collecting clips from 5 friends? One shared page beats stitching five vertical videos together.
